About Gay City USA

GayCityUSA.com came online 1-11-01 and quickly became the most popular gay search engine in the world, according to the Web site tracking company, Alexa.com

GayCityUSA.com is different than some of the other gay search directories because it doesn't rely on submitters only.  We actually go to every major search engine and seek out, under each category, the best links on the internet and post them on our directory.  Therefore, our links are usually the most popular, the most relevant, and the most safe sites to visit.  In other words, our links are 'hand picked' and carefully reviewed before being allowed to be on GayCityUSA.com.  We do not allow malicious sites or pop-ups.

GayCityUSA.com is also different in that it uses many of the most popular search engines on the internet to help you find what you are looking for!  Now, with one click, you can search for links related any topic, on Google, Answers.com, Yahoo, MSN, Alta Vista, Ask.com, You Tube, Flickr, About.com, Wikipedia, and WikiHow.com  

With GayCityUSA.com, you no longer have to type the 'keywords' over and over in each search engine, we already did that for you!  Once on a topic page, if you click on any search engine's button, it takes you directly to that topic in their site!

This new feature is great for travel planning!  GayCityUSA.com has now added new 'city pages' for many of the major U.S. cities and we are hard at work to add more cities, not just in the USA, but internationally as well.  On these new 'city pages' you can find gay and lesbian links related to that city and the Wikipedia.com entry for that city, and also City-Data.com, which often shows photos of the city, as well as tons of information about the city.  With City-Data.com, you can find out the population, the weather, the employment and housing statistics, and much, much more!

My goal is to help the LGBT community become more informed.  I hope that Gay City USA becomes 'the place to go' for gay information.  GayCityUSA.com is known for having the most comprehensive list of Gay Pride Events, the most popular Gay Hanky Code List, and the most inclusive list of GLBT Celebrities.

GayCityUSA.com uses 'targeted' advertising to bring in enough money to cover expenses.  By 'targeted', I mean that the banner advertisements are usually one of my 'affiliates' and I try to place the ads in the best locations with some relevancy to the topic.  So if you were looking for shoes, you would find shoe advertisements there, etc.

Q. If I click on an advertiser's banner and I make a purchase, how does a percentage go to someone with AIDS?

A. The owner of this site has AIDS and he gets a percentage from each sale from the affiliate advertisers.  The amount of purchase remains the same to the purchaser so there is no added expense.  The affiliate pays the percentage as 'payment' for the advertising and the 'lead'.

Q. Are you sure that all the celebrities on your list of gay celebrities are really gay?

A. Without having sex with them personally, or something like that, I can never say for certain.  I am not about embarrassing anyone or 'outing' a person. I only place a name on the list if I have a reliable source or two for me to decide that the celebrity is out of the closet in their personal lives. This could be that they are not 'totally' out with the press, however they usually are pretty well known in their neighborhoods as gay and open in their personal life. Most on the list are very open and some may have a foot in the closet, however they are all 'known to be L,G,B, or T'.  If there is anyone who disputes this, please contact me and I would gladly remove anyone who is not happy about being listed.

Q. How do I advertise on GayCityUSA.com?

A. I accept all gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual related website links and banner ads for free.  I only post banner ads for 'non-gay' websites if I have signed up for an affiliate program in which I receive a percentage of each sale.  Other ads are placed on the site at my discretion due to the relevancy or interest to the LGBT community.

For some straight, but 'gay friendly' websites without an affiliation program, the advertising fee is $30.00 for one year or $15.00 for six months payable to paypal.  Please email me for more information regarding this program.
